Tapuae Roa: Make Way for Taranaki is a project to prepare an economic development strategy for the Taranaki region for the next 10 years. The project is a collaborative effort between New Plymouth District Council, South Taranaki District Council, Stratford District Council, Taranaki Regional Council, Venture Taranaki, local business leaders, iwi and central government (MBIE).
Tapuae Roa: Make Way for Taranaki is about acknowledging and embracing our existing opportunities whilst also making way for a fresh approach to economic development as one region, working together.
The Tapuae Roa Strategy was launched by Hon. Simon Bridges and the Taranaki Mayoral Forum on 31 August 2017 and has the mission:
Taranaki – where talent becomes enterprise
Kia eke panuku
This mission brings talent to centre stage. It aims to single-mindedly grow the talent and entrepreneurial mind-sets, sills and capabilities of the wider Taranaki community as the foundation of a modern economy. This applies not only to business, but to broader community enterprise.
